FRIDAY , JUNE 22,2007

Vernon Green, son of the late Edgar Elias and Elizabeth Rhew Green, was born on May 29th,
1914, near Harrisburg, Ak, and passed away June 20, 2007 at the Arkansas Methodist
Hospital in Paragould Arkansas at the age of 93. He was the eighth of 10 children. As a youth
he worked the family farm while attending school at Cherry Valley and Cardwell, Mo. He was
a star athlete in baseball, basketball and track.

He married Estelle Louise Srum from Cardwell in May of 1938.They were married until her
death in 1989.In 1990 he married Gladys Carter who passed away in 1999.

During his lifetime he worked as a bus driver in the Cardwell Schools, a truck driver for
Brewer Brothers before returning to his first love of farming. He farmed until his retirement
in 1975.

Daughters left to mourn his passing are Florence Maxwell and husband Jerry, of Paragould,
JoAnn Aubel and husband Dave, Of Addieville, Il, and Kitty Kelly and husband Mike of
Huntsville, Al: a step-son, Ken Carter and wife Mae, of Paragould: five grandchildren, John
Gatling of Paragould, Phil Gatling of Jonesboro, Ak., Bryan Aubel and wife Patty of Addieville.
Kacey Kelley and wife Cindy of Huntsville and Malia Aubel Maynard and husband Garren of
Huntersville, NC: nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other friends
and relatives.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Louise "Skeet" Green

Visitation will be from 6 pm to 9 pm today, Friday June 22 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in
Senath, Mo Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 23 at the McDaniel Funeral
Home & Chapel with Henry Priest officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Gatling, Phil Gatling, Braden Gatling, Kacey Kelley, Garren Maynard,
Bryan Aubel and Milia Maynard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association of
the Cardwell Cemetery.

Floyd Edwards sent me a letter with interesting information
back in 2000 about Joseph and Mary. I hope you find it
as interesting as I did

Joseph grew up on a little farm in the hills of
Mississippi near Longview. As a young man
he worked in the woods with his brother, John
cutting and hauling logs to make lumber for building
houses. They also hewed cross ties for railroad
tracks. John was married, his wife's name was Callie
Joseph lived with them. Callie had some brothers
and a couple of sisters. Their mother had died
several years earlier and her father, Mr. Chandler,
remarried and raised another family. A total of 10
children. Among the other family were three girls,
Viola, Alma and Clara and a couple boys in the young
family. Joseph remembered the beautiful little girl
with long coal black hair he had met when she visited
his sister. He made a trip to visit her at her home.
Viola was only 16 years old. Mr Chandler didn't
approve of them seeing each other, but was
unsuccessful in stopping them. Viola's 17th
birthday was April 12,1901.This young couple
attended a community square dance one night.
Between dances they sat in an open window
and Joseph asked Viola to marry him. She
accepted and they ran away and were married
May 7,1901

Obituary Mary Viola Edwards

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Viola Edwards age 60, wife of Mr.
Joseph Martin Edwards, of Parkin AR and formerly of McCrory,
were conducted at the Woodmen Cemetery Sunday afternoon
by the Rev. Ralph Hillis, pastor of the McCrory Methodist Church.
assisted by Rev. J.W. Sandage, pastor of the Deview Methodist
Church. More then 200 sorrowing friends and relatives attended.

Mrs. Edwards was born April 12,1884 at Sturgis, MS a daughter
of the late James and Ellen (Sharp) Chandler. She died at her home
near Parkin Thursday morning, October 12, 1944. She was married
to Joseph Martin Edwards May 7, 1901. She was a member of the
McCrory Methodist Church, the Woodmen Circle and the Raney
Burial Ass. She died as she lived, as a Christian. She was a devoted
wife and loving mother, a good neighbor,commanding the respect
of all who knew her. Beside her husband she leaves behind ten
children as follows;
Mrs. John Smith (Lou), Mrs. Dave Smith (Ida) , and Mrs. GW Standfill
(Nova) all of McCrory; Mrs. S.V. Hyde (Mary) of Augusta; Mrs. A.L.
Green (Ellen) of Cardwell,Mo; Walter and Wilton Edwards of Brawley,Ca;
Felix Edwards of the home; Sgt. Floyd Edwards of Camp Maxey, Texas
and Wallace Edwards,who is with the US Army in France.


Obituary Joseph Martian Edwards

McCrory- Joseph M.Edwards, 78, died in his home at Cardwell, MO
Friday night from a stroke. He was born in Akerman, MI. He lived
most of his life in and near McCrory. He was a Methodist and a
retired farmer. Survivors include five sons, Felix of Aurora, Il;
Floyd of Detroit,MI; Walter & Wilton of Brawley,CA and
Wallace of Alpine,CA; five daughters, Mrs. Lou Smith, McCrory;
Mrs. Ellen Green, Aurora,IL; Mrs. Nova Capshaw, McCrory,
Mrs.Mary Hyde, Augusta; Mrs.Ida Smith, McCrory.
Forty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 today in Thompson-
Wilson Chapel by the Rev. Coy Statler, Cardwell Methodist
Minister. Burial will be in the Woodman Cemetery.

MRS. LOU SMITH 1994

Mrs. Loueza(Lou) Caroline Edwards Smith, longtime resident of
McCrory died at 7:30 am Thursday, Sept. 29,1994 at the Woodruff
County Nursing Home in McCrory,AR. She was 92 years old and
died following a three week illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Saturday, October 2 at
the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Chapel in McCrory with Rev. Michael
Crum, pastor of the McCrory Church of the Nazarene and Rev.
Tony Miller, pastor of the First Nazarene Church in Jacksonville
officiating. Interment was in the Woodman Cemetery in McCrory.
Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory and Wynee were in
charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith was born June 28,1902 in Starkville,MS, the daughter
of the late Joseph and Mary Viola Chandler Edwards. She moved
at an early age with her parents to Woodruff County and attended
local schools. She was married March 11,1933 to Mr. John F. Smith
of Woodruff County who preceded her in death October 23, 1968.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the McCrory Church
of the Nazerene. She was a lifelong resident of the McCrory area
and for the past 13 years was a resident of the Woodruff County
Nursing Home. Mrs. Smith enjoyed sewing as long as health permitted.

Survivors include one daughter, Annie Lou Byers of Jacksonville;
two brothers, Floyd Edwards of Livonia,MI and Walter Edwards
of Ooltewah,TN; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
(The children mentioned here are step-children)

Pallbearers were Benny Graves, Chuck Reeves, Ellis Reeves,
Billy Dave Smith, Bobby Smith and Odie Stutts.

Ellen Edwards Green, former Woodruff County resident,
died Nov. 10, 1987 at an Aurora, Illinois nursing home.
Services were conducted at 7:30 pm in Aurora by
Aurora Church of Christ. Graveside services were held
at Doniphan,MO. Saturday Nov.14th with pastor of
Doniphan Church of Christ officiating.

Mrs. Green was born July 15, 1903 in Sturgis,MS, daughter
of the late Joseph M. & Mary V. Chandler Edwards. At an
early age she was moved to Woodruff County with her family
and attended county schools. On Nov.14, 1927 she married
Arthur Green of Cardwell, MO. who preceded her in death
in 1973 at Doniphan. After her husband died, she moved to
Illinois to be near her children where she remained until
her death.

She is survived by one daughter,LaWanda Abee of
Owensboro, KY; one son Walter Green if Southhaven,
MS; four sisters, Lou Smith, Nova Capshaw and Ida Smith
all of McCrory, AR and Mary Hyde of Augusta,; three
brothers Felix Edwards of Paragould, Floyd Edwards of
Livonia, MI and Walter Edwards of Ooltawah, TN; 14
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

NOVA OLEAN EDWARDS (STANFILL) CAPSHAW 1991

Mrs. Nova Capshaw, longtime resident of McCrory, died at
2:50am on Sat. February 23, 1991 at the Crittenden Memorial
Hospital in West Memphis where she had been a patient for one
day. She was 86 and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm on Monday, Feb.25, at
the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Chapel in McCrory with Rev.
Bennie Harmon, pastor of the McCrory United Methodist Church
officiating. Interment was in the Woodman Cemetery in Woodruff
County, AR. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory and
Wynne was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Capshaw was born Sept. 11, 1904 in Ackerman, MS the daughter
of the late Joseph M. and Olla Chandler Edwards. She moved with
her parents at an early age to Woodruff County and attended school
in the Beards Community. She was first married to Mr. George
Stanfill of Woodruff County who died in 1944 and was later married
to Mr. Oscar Capshaw who preceded her in death on April 8,1961.
Mrs. Capshaw was a homemaker and was a longtime member of the
McCrory United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Thompson
Sunday School class. She had been a resident of Woodruff County for
over 75 yrs. and was a member of the McCrory Senior Citizens and
the Woodruff County Aging Program.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence Stanfill of Rantoul, IL and Elbert
Stanfill of ElDorado,; five daughters Mrs. Donnie Murphy of
Memphis, TN, Mrs. Evelyn Miller of Fisher, IL, Mrs. Dorthy Roepe
of Exton, PA, Mrs. Martha Chalmere of Park Forest and Mrs. Betty
Allen of Marion; three brothers, Floyd Edwards of Levonia,MI,
Walter Edwards Of Ootewah, TN, and Felix Edwards of Paragould;
three sisters Mrs. Ida Smith and Mrs. Lou Smith both of McCrory
and Mrs. Mary Hyde of Augusta; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-
grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Allen, Paul Allen, Donald Chalmere, Jeffery
Chalmere, Lamont Murphy, Richard Murphy, Terry Murphy,
and Bill Roepe.

Mr. Felix Edwards of Paragould formally of McCrory died
June 19,1991 in a nursing home in Aurora, Il. He was 85 and
died after an extended illness of 2 years. His children moved
him from Paragould to Illinois several weeks before his death
so that he would be near them. Funeral services were conducted
Friday June 21 with the minister Zane Gray and Herbert
Knight of the Church of Christ in Missouri. Interment was in
Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora. Mr Edwards was born
June 27, 1906 in Ackerman,MS. He moved with his parents
at an early age to Woodruff County and attended local schools.
He was engaged in farming near Paragould after his retirement
in Illinois in 1970. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as
health permitted. He was a member of theChurch of Christ in
Paragould, AR. He was married to the former Ella Green of
Cardwell, Mo in 1927.Other than his wife, he is survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Ruth Owen of Aurora, Il.;two sons, Edgar Joe of
Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Efton(Dutch) Edwards of Montgomery, Il.;
Three sisters, Mrs. Lou Smith, Mrs. Ida Smith of McCrory,Ar,
Mrs. Mary Hyde of Augusta; two brothers, Floyd Edwards
of Livonia, MI, and Walter Edwards of Ooltawah,TN .
13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren.

                Mary Ruth Owen age 82, of North Aurora passed away on April 9, 2011 at her home.
                She was born on March 21, 1929 in Flint Michigan, the daughter of Felix and Ella
                 Edwards. Ruth married the late James Owen in 1949 and together they had 7
                 children. Ruth was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Aurora. In addition
                 to being a homemaker, Ruth was very active in East Side PTA and was honored for
                 her service with a lifetime PTA membership. She also sold Avon for 50 years and
                 worked in the Aurora Avon office for several years. Ruth touched the lives of
                  many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons; Dennis (Debbie)
                  Owen of Leland, Il, Bruce (Elicha) Owen of Maryland, Tim (Kelly) Owen of
                  California, Daughters: Rhonda ( Bill) Lindoo of Big Rock, Marsha ( Steve) Leggans
                   of West Virginia, Amy (Kevin) Talkington of North Aurora and Cindy Owen of
                   Montgomery, 13 grandchildren; Scott (Mandi) Porter, Jeni (Brad) Beetham, Gene
                   Owen, Jessica Sherfel, Dustin Leggans, Stephanie Isbill, Mandy Leggans, Kyle, Kelsey
                   and Kayla Talkington, James and Blaise Owen and Ella Ruth Owen. 9 great-
                   grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ed (Reba Sue) Edwards of Kentucky and Dutch (Rae)
                   Edwards of Wisconsin. 2 sister-in-law Lily Owen of Aurora and Mary Deaton of
                   Arkansas and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death
                  by her parents, her husband, brother James "Russel" Edwards and grandson
                   Joshua Lee Owen. Family will be receiving quest on Tuesday April 12th from
                   3:00 - 7:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery
                   IL 60538, Funeral services will be on Wednesday April 13th at 10:00am at the
                   Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Edgar Joseph Edwards, age 82,of Gilbertsville, KY, died Friday, December 21,2012
at his residence in Gilbertsville KY. Mr Edwards was retired from the US Airforce.
He was the son of the late Felix Edwards and Ella Green Edwards. He is survived
by two daughters: Gayla Taylor, Columbus, Nebraska, Deborah Lynn Edwards of Santa Cruz,
California; Four grandchildren and One Great Grand Child. He was preceded in death
by his parents, wife: RebaSue Edwards; one brother Russel and one sister Ruth. Arrangements
are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, PO Box 492, Benton, KY. Funeral services
will be at the Collier Funeral Chapel at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 31, 2012,
 David Hendrikson officiating. Visitation will be held between 12 noon until the funeral.
Interment with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, 2:00pm
at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary, St. Louis, MO.
